Installing the Rain Alert Wireless water tank level indicator

  Detailed installation instructions are supplied with the Rain Alert Kit.
     

 

  Step 1
Tell the Rain Alert display unit the height of your water tank, by setting the multi switches on the back of the display unit.

  Step 2
Match the Rain Alert Receiver with the Transmitter. This is done by plugging in the receiver to the mains socket. Then within two minutes, hold the Rain Alert "Rocket" up against the receiver. You only need do this once.

Select the right spot for the Rain Alert "Rocket" on top of the water tank.

The ultrasonic beam radiates out as a cone at 39°.  If you have a water tank that does not have smooth walls, then you will have to locate the Rain Alert transmitter 300mm from any edge for every meter drop. (2M - 600mm). If you do not do this, you will encounter situation C
B and E
- Do not use a tube or drill a hole such that the wall of the tube or hole interferes with the beam of ultrasonic sound that is emitted from the Rain Alert transmitter.

- Beware of ribs on the side of the tank and in the case of skinny tanks or slim line tanks, any internal bracing bars.
D - Make sure that the Rain Alert "Rocket" is installed within 10° of vertical.

  Step 3
Drill a 20mm (to a maximum 30mm) hole on top of the water tank to provide a path for the ultrasonic signal. Make sure that the hole complies with B and E above. Drill two small holes for the Rain Alert's mounting screws.
   
  Step 4
Screw down the Rain Alert "Rocket".

Step 5
Check the level of water in your tank. After 1 hour check the Rain Alert display unit and verify that the level in the water tank is correctly displayed.
