The Rain Alert
system uses a ultrasonic beam to measure the distance of the water
from the top of the tank. This beam has a cone shape that
is emitted at a 39 degree angle. This means that the transmitter
must be installed away from the sides of ribbed tanks. The deeper the
tank, the further away it must be installed from the edge.
The rule of thumb:
For every meter drop, you need to install the transmitter 300mm from
any edge. 2m drop - 600m from any edge.
This may become an issue in Skinny or Slim Line tanks that
have ribs.
Rain Alert can introduce an error in level reporting if it is
installed on water tanks where the installation location is over
150mm above the maximum water level. Rain Alert does not make
allowances for an air gap that exceeds 150mm between the maximum
water level and the top of the tank where it may be installed. |
