How does it work?
CisternGauges uses the bubbler principle for measuring water depth. A weighted tube is lowered to the bottom of the tank. The other end of the tube is connected to a pressure gauge. The scale on the pressure gauge dial indicates the depth of water in inches and meters. An air pump (the pressure-bulb) is used to pump air into the tube. As the air pressure increases in the tube, water in the tank that has risen in the tube is displaced. When the pressurized air has displaced all the water in the tube, it starts to bubble out of the end of the tube at the bottom of the tank. At this point the gauge will indicate the depth of the water.
Installation
1. Lower the weighted end of the tube to the bottom of your water tank or cistern.
2. Run the tube back to where the gauge will be installed.
3. Plug the clear tube into the T piece at the back of the enclosure. Loop the clear tube over the top and back down to the opening at the bottom of the enclosure. See diagram 1. 4. Test the gauge by lightly tightening the pressure screw and then continue squeezing the bulb until the needle on the gauge does not go any higher. The level indicated should correspond with the level in your tank. Do not take a reading while you are pumping.
5. Fix the gauge enclosure to a wall using the fixtures provided.
Notes:
• For optimum performance ensure that the tube is not kinked or clogged.
• The maximum length that the tube may be extended to is 200ft (60m).
• Meters are indicated in red. Feet are indicated in black.
• Protect the gauge from direct sunlight by keeping the enclosure cover shut. |
